I totally agree with you, "A kind gesture doesn’t cost much, and when done selflessly, it reflects well on the person who does it"! You make me think about the time when I used to go to school from the village where I was born by bus, many years ago. There were no signals or banner on those old buses, but every young people get up from their seats when an elderly person gets on because our parents (and grand parents too) teached us respect and good manners. Now I live in a small city and so I use to go everywhere just walking, but sometimes it happened I had to take the bus and yes, the most part of young ones doesn't give up. Fortunately not all young ones. I could see some of them who helped old people with the tickets or to give up their seats with a sweet smile on their face as I used to do when I was young. When I see a similar scene I think they are a good example for the other young people, but I know that also here in my small city it happens that bus are not comfortable, a little dangerous and absolutely full of people with bad manners and not respect.
