Shhhh.... I'll let you in on a little secret. Even though a lot of people consider California to be the best summer destination, fall is actually my favorite season in California.
The greatest weather for the entire state is experienced in the fall, which makes it excellent. In addition to not being as hot as they would be in the height of summer, the beaches will still be warm and less cloudy.
Yes, I think that the weather is really at its best right now, especially in early November when the marine layer has worn off and the temperature is still rather pleasant.
The trees that once covered the landscape are still there, but they have turned gorgeous tones of orange and gold.
Walking through the trees is so peaceful. The cool fall weather makes the experience even more relaxing.
Our downtown is really nice during the fall, especially. There are so many red and golden trees.
“I think of the trees and how simply they let go, let fall the riches of a season, how without grief (it seems) they can let go and go deep into their roots for renewal and sleep,” - in Journal of a Solitude by poet and novelist May Sarton
I enjoy walking through falling leaves... to get that crunching, fall feeling.
This is a great time to ride the town's bike trails, where every turn in the road is picturesque.
Another thing I love about fall is the baking! Cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger and cloves are some of the tastes of fall. It’s harvest season after all. Apple picking becomes a thing! The plums, apples, pears and others are ripe, straight off the tree or baked in a pie or cake.
I also feel like my emotions are more nuanced in the fall. The season also has a gloomy quality about it.
