The Somalia Elephant coin is among the most well-liked 1 oz silver coins in existence. These lovely silver coins, known as the Zambia Elephant when they were initially released in 1999, were some of the first in the world to feature fresh design elements every year.
The depiction of the African bush elephant on the reverse alternates yearly, however the national coat of arms of Somalia appears on the obverse every year.
The most recent rendering of the African bush elephant from the Bavarian State Mint may be found on the reverse face of the 2023 Silver Elephant coins. The centerpiece of this year's design is an elephant's head from the African jungle. The elephant uses its trunk to lower a branch from a tree so it can eat the leaves inside the tree.

Even though this coin, known as the Somalia Silver Elephant, is the 20th in this series, it is actually the 25th overall. This series, which is generally known as the African Wildlife Series Elephant Coin, was first produced as the Zambia Elephant from 1999 to 2003 before being renamed the Somalia Elephant in 2004.
