2022 Somali Silver Elephant

I ordered this from Germany. Don't ask me why, because I don't know why. @goldrooster featured the coin while it was not yet out here in the U.S. I ordered it on September 1, and it was shipped September 15 delivered on September 22. I guess I wanted to find out how long it takes? Now I know it takes a week for a parcel to arrive here from Germany.

2022 Somali Silver Elephant, African Wildlife Series

The Somali Elephant first came out in 1999 as part of the African Wildlife series. One thing I like about this coin is that the design of the reverse changes every year. The elephant is depicted in different sceneries and sometimes has multiple elephants in it. This makes the year of issue interesting.

Let's take a closer look!

Wow! The creases on both the elephants' skin are so life-like. The details of the blades of grass, the trees, and the birds flying are sharp. The manufacturer of the coin, the Bavarian Mint of Munich, did a fantastic job on the 2022 version of the elephant coin.

The obverse is the usual coat of arms of Somali Republic. The coin has a face value of 100 Shillings.

The coin is so shiny, I had a difficult time taking pictures of because It reflects everything!
