1983 was the first year of the sterling silver proof One Pound coin. The silver One Pound coins were issued only from 1983 to 2016.

It features my favorite portrait of Elizabeth II by Arnold Machin.
Eric Sewell was the Chief Engraver of the Royal Mint in London in the 1970s. He designed the reverse of the first round British pound, issued in 1983, featuring the royal arms. 1
Inscribed in Latin are the words HONI SOIT QUI MA Y PENSE DIEU ET MON DROIT, which translates into English as "Evil unto him who thinks evil of it. God and my right,"
The royal coat of arms in the one pound coin was issued in 1983, 1993, 2003, 2008. Then, in 2015, the Royal Mint revealed a new design for the Royal Arms £1 coin. I'll try to show you that one in the future.
