After showing off a pair of lovely ladies in extremely pristine condition.
Today I am going share with you a vintage round. This round is extremely different and very cool and I cannot find any information on it in any of the resource books or on line catalogs that I have.
So unfortunately I don’t know who made it, or what year it was produced.
But I do know several things. I can’t find another for sale anywhere on any auction website. It is a different kind of world silver trade unit, as you can read on the reverse around the boarder of the round. It has historic landmarks and countries on the reverse as well. United States, Espana, Canada, Schweiz, France, Great Britain, Deutschland, Israel, and Italia are all on the round.
I also know that I purchased it at a National Coin Show in Baltimore in the 1990’s. Only because of what else was in the envelope with this round.
On the obverse there is ship, a scale, a compass, a plane, with a man holding a globe of the world on his shoulders/back. Inscribed across the top border is “Silver Supports The Fortunes Of The World”. Across the bottom border is “World Commerce And Trade”.
So this is definite a world trade unit.
Now for the unveiling……
I wish they still produced rounds with these kind of designs.they are so cool and have so much meaning to them.
