Afternoon everyone ….
To those of you that are Catholic Happy Good Friday. To those of you who are Orthodox you have to wait a week.
It was a tradition growing up that we would all go to my fathers uncles in Bayonne for Good Friday dinner. He was a tremendous cook, who I learned a ton from.
There would be 25-30 people there that night. Uncle Vito had tables set up in three rooms to accommodate everyone.
While that tradition has passed with most of the family passing now. But I am very fortunate to have friends that do the same tradition. I was invited to the Good Friday Feast at my buddy Carmine’s house.
While it won’t be the same as uncle Vito’s, his wife is a tremendous cook as well.
Good Friday is a no meat feast, containing several fish, seafood and pasta dishes. Carmine told me some of the menu when he invited me.
Here are some of the items on the menu:
Fried calamari, clams casino, lobster stuffed halibut, shrimp fra diavolo and more. Clams casino is one of my favorites and she does a great one.
