Afternoon everyone …..
Over the years I’ve seen many of you share posts of these Perth Mint kookaburra coins. It’s a quite popular series, and one that I had collected up until a few years ago.
I made the decision to stop purchasing never ending coin series. It’s too much work and feels like a job keeping up with all of them. So I decided to sell off many but not all of my never ending coin series.
But that’s not why I’m writing this post.
I got this e-mail from Bold Precious Metals on the latest release of the Perth Mint kookaburra coin. It’s the thirty-fifth anniversary and it’s a really well done design.
Bold Precious Metals is another one of the on line dealers that I use. They are privately owned and not a part of the BIG BROTHER A-Mark conglomerate.
Here is the description of the coin directly from their website:
The obverse of the 2025 1 oz Perth Kookaburra Silver Coin displays the newly introduced effigy of His Majesty King Charles III after the passing of the longest reigning H. M. Queen Elizabeth II in 2022. This effigy by Dan Thorne (DT) shows the left profile of the King wearing a suit and tie. The inscriptions surrounding the effigy depict the country and denomination as “CHARLES III. AUSTRALIA. 1 DOLLAR.”
The reverse side of the silver coin bears the portrayal of the laughing Kookaburra, one of the most interesting birds in Australia. The bird meticulously carries its nickname, the Laughing Kookaburra. The design includes the inscriptions for purity, year of issue, and the coin series name as “2025 1 oz 9999 SILVER. KOOKABURRA. 35th ANNIVERSARY.”
The 2025 issue of the Perth Mint’s Kookabura coins celebrates the 35th Anniversary of the Kookaburra series. The series was launched first in 1990. To commemorate the legacy of the Kookaburra series, the reverse depicts a privy mark that includes the initial design, which also acts as a security feature. The privy mark design radiates rays in all directions that span across the coin.
