I played a Star Trek RPG. Our Engineer was exhausted after being ordered to do some additional physical training. Right before beaming over to a derelict ship he asked the Transporter Officer, "Could you reconfigure the transporter to filter out the lactic acid from my bloodstream."
He said, "Yeah... but I won't ."
The Enterprise transporters have bio filters to prevent carrying alien diseases onto the ship, there are a lot of other novel similar uses.
