Well in Batman: Red Rain, he fended off a vampire (possibly Dracula) by drawing a cross on the wall in his own blood, which reeeally ticked him off. But when the X-Men fought Dracula, Wolverine failed to affect him with a cross made out of his claws because he was not a believer. Whereas Nightcrawler could cause him pain with two sticks made into a cross. Also, Dracula burned his hand when he grabbed Kitty Pryde's throat because she was wearing her Star of David on her necklace (while FAILING to affect him with an elaborate gold cross) because she is Jewish. So, the answer is... depends on the author. Oh, also, Mulder failed to hold back a cadre of vampires with two bread sticks on The X-Files (which is strangely not related to the X-men...)
