So I started working on a digital painting of a "lipstick lizard" which is a common critter here on Oahu. It's a very colorful, bright green lizard with blue eyes and feet and a vibrant red pattern on it's back. After working on this for about a day, I decided I needed to do something to it that was more.... me. So I wiped out the original red splotches that I painted on his back and replaced it with Hawaiian warrior tattoos. Now, the lizard is a bad ass.
Step 1: Ink Outline
Step 2: Color Swashes
Step 3: Autocolor. The autocolor didn't save nearly as many of the color variations that I hoped it would. So I had to start from a virtually all green canvas.
Step 4: Render Render Render.
Perhaps if I make four of these little guys I could start a Tween Angst Samurai Lizard comic. I'm sure it would take off.
