Devtakhum
For thousands of centuries, the gods are sleeping!
Trekking through the mountains and jungles and kayaking on a raft to reach your destination - Devtakhum in Rawangchari Upazila of Bandarban is the meeting place of these three. The word Khum means reservoir. According to locals, gods are born or gods reside here hence the name Devtakhum. According to the locals, the depth of this khum is 50-80 feet in places and it is about 600 feet in length. It is the largest and most prolific of all khums in Bandarban.
"Why is this khum called the king of all khums!"
It is not possible to explain why this khum is called the king of all khums without seeing it with your own eyes. While rafting through the frigid waters, the wild mountain bends are reminded of its name by the sky - Devtakhum:
As the illusion of green melts, the heavenly light that melts the gap of the mountain peeks into Devtakhum.
There is no sorrow, no mechanical noise, no strife or discrimination; There is only two-eyed sky and mountains; And hidden in his fry is an infinite collection of greenery arranged by the creator's own hands.
"Things to know:"
Before coming to Kachchapatali Bazar in Rowangchari, you need to inform Rowangchari police station. From there, after another half an hour or forty minutes of running along the hilly, crooked, high road, I reached Kachhapatali village. The car road ends here. It is basically the village market of the hills.
From here you have to leave with a guide. After submitting the list of names to the Liragao Army Camp, after making some general inquiries and some suggestions, they finally gave permission with a special request to return by 5 pm. Our journey started with the guide Shilbrata Dada guide. Guide Dada is great.
"What must be endured when traveling this way:"
Sometimes jungles, sometimes ankle-deep footpaths, sometimes Sanko, sometimes walking through Vishakala rocks. After about an hour and a half, I reached Shilbandha village. I walked for another 10/15 minutes and came to a khum called Pong Soo Ang. Basically one has to pass through this small khum to go to Devtakhum.
Tour Details:
Everyone boarded the boat because the bamboo raft was late. As soon as they saw me standing there, they also got down and started waiting for the bamboo raft. Clinging to the raft, I paid attention to nature.
In an instant, everything stopped. As if the earth stood still in its orbit, as if the sun and the moon were stuck in their own orbits, only the water of Devtakhum remained floating under the command of some immense power; And I and we are floating on a raft in that flowing water. As high as the eye can see on the right side, the mountains have risen, the same on the left side; In the middle, the sky seems to find a place to show its greatness. How helpless even such a huge sky feels in the gap of that giant mountain of Devtakhum. A fair of green in the hills and blue sky above. The color of the water is so subtle.
While doing so, he suddenly saw the stone. Basically, this stone is a very sacred and respectable place for hillmen. It is here that they prepare the plate of worship for the deity. So, maybe avoid this place. As you move forward, you will see that the path is getting narrower. All of a sudden it can seem like it's over. But no, you will see that there is still a long way to go. Sometimes you will see strange grooved designs on the mountain slopes, sometimes huge holes like caves, and sometimes the roots of wild trees coming down from the high mountain slopes. As the day progressed, the daylight began to decrease, as the sky line was getting narrower between the two mountains.
After quite a while, the end of Devtakhum road came into sight as we turned the bend. As I was about to bring the raft to the shore and get down, one of the guards said in clear Bengali that there is a red flag here. This is the last frontier for you. I asked a lot to see what is after the trail? He said nothing more.
I came back with a suppressed curiosity. I went to help someone in the middle and drowned. The phone in the bag, the gimbal is wet.
I came on the mountain path, going along the path.
By the time I pass Pong Su Aung, the high noon sun is starting to fade. From a distance, the entrance to Devtakhum looked very dark and gloomy. There is a strange silence in the whole area. To understand the weight of silence, you have to go to Devtakhum. You won't be able to scream here no matter how hard you try. Paul would think that the god had woken up.
It is evening. There is no evening in the mountains. There is a silent night. The gods are asleep under the starry sky between the two mountains that stand with their chests folded, the goddesses are looking for a way for someone, and I am lost again in the mechanical noise.
The body is very tired. I rushed to the bus on the way to Chittagong. Going to dive into mechanics But I will return to this mountain again. Thousands of times.
