Today I want to talk about Hunter x Hunter. Honestly, this anime messed me up. But in a good way. There was no plan to watch it at first. I thought it was just another as usual kid-friendly anime. Where the fights are flashy. But it proved me so wrong. The earlier episodes felt very fun, and then, suddenly, it comes with some heavy moments that stay for a long time.
I still remember I started watching it at ten pm at night and suddenly it was four in the morning. But I was still thinking about those anime characters and stories. It’s very weird that at the beginning I didn’t expect to care this much. But there’s something different about this show. It’s story is about what you find about yourself along the way. So yeah, here’s me telling you about why I love this anime.
The main story is very simple. But when you first hear it. There is a 12-year-old kid. His name is Gon. He wants to find his dad. His dad just ditched him to be a Hunter. Hunters are like pro adventurers. They hunt monsters, find treasures and sometimes solve weird mysteries.
To find his dad, Gon decides to become a Hunter too. It sounds easy, right? But there is an exam to become a hunter which is not that easy. In the exam people die, cheat and betray. Gon has to deal with all of it. But he doesn’t do it alone. In the meantime he meets Killua. Honestly he's my favorite. Killua’s a trained assassin. He just wants a real friend. There’s also another character named Leorio. Leorio wants to be a doctor.
Then we get Heaven’s Arena. Basically Gon and Killua head inside a big tower to fight people and make money. It sounds weird but it’s not. It’s where they learn about Nen. This power system that’s so detailed made me so astonished. It’s all about how your mind works and controls your life energy. Seeing Gon and Killua push themselves to get stronger was fun as well as motivating.
But Yorknew City. That scene still stays with me. Kurapika goes after the Phantom Troupe. This is a gang that murdered his whole clan for their eyes. This is just not the usual villain squad. Sometimes they joke around. They care about each other. But fun fact they’re monsters too. Kurapika’s revenge feels so real. Revenge makes him do things that make him just as scary as the people he hates.
Then comes the literal video game scenes. Yes, I am talking about Greed Island. A lot of people skip this and call it boring. If I tell you about myself, I actually liked it. It’s like a weird break. But again from another perspective it's also not a break because they’re training like nonstop. Gon’s whole thing here is so single minded. Which is scary. He doesn’t care about anything. He only cares about finding his dad. You can also see how that obsession grows by the time.
What I love about Hunter x Hunter is that it sometimes plays with you, it's like tricks you. It looks like a happy adventure about friendship. But the good guys don’t always stay good. The villains aren’t always evil. Sometimes no one wins. The story feels so real. So if you haven’t watched it yet, I will suggest you to watch it right now. It’ll break your heart, but you’ll love it for that.

Pensé que era solo otro anime apto para niños como de costumbre. Donde las peleas son llamativas. Pero me demostró que estaba muy equivocado. Los episodios anteriores se sentían muy divertidos, y luego, de repente, vienen con algunos momentos pesados que permanecen por mucho tiempo.
Todavía recuerdo que empecé a verlo a las diez de la noche y de repente eran las cuatro de la mañana. Pero todavía estaba pensando en esos personajes y historias de anime. Es muy raro que al principio no esperaba preocuparme tanto. Pero hay algo diferente en este programa. Su historia trata sobre lo que descubres sobre ti mismo en el camino. Así que sí, aquí estoy contándote por qué me encanta este anime.
La historia principal es muy simple. Pero cuando lo escuchas por primera vez. Hay un niño de 12 años. Se llama Gon. Quiere encontrar a su papá. Su papá simplemente lo abandonó para ser un Cazador. Los cazadores son como aventureros profesionales. Cazan monstruos, encuentran tesoros y a veces resuelven misterios extraños.
Para encontrar a su padre, Gon decide convertirse en Cazador también. Suena fácil, ¿verdad? Pero hay un examen para convertirse en cazador que no es tan fácil. En el examen, la gente muere, engaña y traiciona. Gon tiene que lidiar con todo eso. Pero no lo hace solo. Mientras tanto, conoce a Killua. Honestamente, él es mi favorito. Killua es un asesino entrenado. Solo quiere un amigo de verdad. También hay otro personaje llamado Leorio. Leorio quiere ser médico.
Luego llegamos a la Arena del Cielo. Básicamente, Gon y Killua entran en una gran torre para pelear contra personas y ganar dinero. Suena raro, pero no lo es. Es donde aprenden sobre Nen. Este sistema de poder tan detallado me dejó tan asombrado. Todo se trata de cómo funciona tu mente y controla tu energía vital. Ver a Gon y Killua esforzarse para volverse más fuertes fue divertido y motivador.
Pero Yorknew City. Esa escena todavía se queda conmigo. Kurapika va tras la Tropa Fantasma. Esta es una banda que asesinó a todo su clan por sus ojos. Este no es el típico grupo de villanos. A veces bromean. Se cuidan mutuamente. Pero dato curioso, también son monstruos. La venganza de Kurapika se siente tan real. La venganza lo hace hacer cosas que lo vuelven tan aterrador como las personas que odia.
Luego vienen las escenas literales del videojuego. Sí, estoy hablando de Greed Island. Mucha gente lo salta y lo llama aburrido. Si te cuento sobre mí, en realidad me gustó. Es como un descanso raro. Pero, desde otra perspectiva, tampoco es un descanso porque están entrenando sin parar. Todo lo que hace Gon aquí es tan unidimensional. Lo cual es aterrador. No le importa nada. Solo le importa encontrar a su papá. También puedes ver cómo esa obsesión crece con el tiempo.
Lo que me encanta de Hunter x Hunter es que a veces juega contigo, es como si te engañara. Parece una aventura feliz sobre la amistad. Pero los buenos no siempre se quedan buenos. Los villanos no siempre son malvados. A veces nadie gana. La historia se siente tan real. Así que si aún no lo has visto, te sugiero que lo veas ahora mismo. Te romperá el corazón, pero lo amarás por eso.
