7 Tips to Study time management

1) What do you have to do?

The first stage of time management improvement is to make a list of absolutely everything you have to do. This may sound obvious, but speaking from experience, most students tend to drop important assignments until the last minute, which can hurt the quality of their work and their overall grade.

2) Create a calendar

Be it a planner, agenda, calendar or app, find an organization tool that works well for you and add your to-do list. Do so by leaving the approximate times it will take for each task so that you can plan your study periods around those times.

Find time for your social life, and also make sure you get enough sleep. Most people need 7 to 8 hours of sleep each night to stay focused during the study periods.

3) Be flexible but realistic

In general, you will use around 8-10 hours a day to work, study, socialize and everything you need to do.

As a full-time student, you are expected to spend 35 hours a week for college studies, including the time you spend in classes and conferences. If you only spend 15 hours a week in class, you should use the extra 20 hours for independent study.

It is also important to remember that many times things take us longer than expected. Therefore, give yourself a little extra time in case you spend more time on a task than you thought.

4) Manage the changes

As much as you have planned everything perfectly, there is always the situation that there is a last-minute change or a task that you must add. You must include it in the planning, instead of taking it out of your “planing”.

Give yourself the time to manage changes to your calendar whenever necessary.

5) Avoid distractions

One way to avoid distractions is to think about the different places you have been studying and ask yourself - "Where were you most focused? Where were you most distracted?"

Remember that what works for a person may not necessarily work for you. Some people perform more by day and people at night. We invite you to look at our post to know what are the advantages of studying at night vs. day.

6) Exercise to disconnect

Believe it or not, exercise works the same way as sleep does, it helps you clear your head between study sessions.

7) Ask yourself if your organization has been effective

A constant review and reassessment of your schedule can help to recognize if you need to make any changes to help you complete the tasks of the college and also have time to relax and spend time with friends and family.
