Engine oil is different for 2 or 4 stroke engines. Engine oil can be synthetic or semi-synthetic and must have the required viscosity. It is up to you to decide which lubricant is best suited for your motorcycle.
To do this, you must always refer to the indications in the technical booklet as well as the instructions of the dealers.
Knowing how advanced the arena has been especially within the area of motorcycle, in Distlu, we make it an obligation to preserve our limitless fan-base and extraordinary clients who you are, the most as much as up to date information as of what concerns bikes as a whole.
Between synthetic oil, semi-synthetic oil, and mineral oil: what to choose?
Synthetic oils are recognizable by the words 5W30 and 4W40. They are recommended for motors that are under heavy stress. Whether it is a fun ride or a sporty ride, if your motorcycle experiences many stops or restarts, it is better to opt for synthetic oil.
For information, oils of type 5W30 and 5W40 facilitate the cold starting of two-wheeled vehicles. They degrade less quickly, so you will not need to do regular oil changes.
The semisynthetic oils are standard. They are much more affordable than synthetic oils. This type of oil provides the minimum, i.e. lubrication and protection.
The mineral oils which are designated by 15W40 are thicker. They compensate for the oil consumption by the motorcycle engine. It should be noted that this oil wears out very quickly.
Several emptying operations are therefore to be expected. Worse still, this oil would cause an unpleasant noise in the engine.
Oil viscosity indices
The viscosity index is mentioned in the oil can. Viscosity is the resistance to the flow of oil. It, therefore, depends on the cold temperature when the engine is running. As always, the viscosity of the oil is chosen according to the indications of the dealer.
For better efficiency, it is advisable to change the oil every 6000 km, especially if for short urban journeys. For this type of pipe, it is difficult for the oil to reach the necessary fluidity.
Can you use motorcycle oil on a motorcycle?
You will have noticed that motor oil for cars is 5 times more expensive than oil for motorbikes. It should be noted that there is a huge difference between two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles.
So to speak, avoid using auto oil on your motorcycle. You are probably thinking of saving money by doing so, but this will not further degrade your motorcycle.
