At least 6,700 Rohingya Muslims were killed in Rakhine, Myanmar as violence broke between August 25 and September 24 this year. This stats is based on surveys carried out in refugee camps in Bangladesh by the international NGO Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF). MSF says that there were 730 children below 5 years among the dead.
Violence broke out when Rohingya militants attacked the security posts. In a reply, Myanmar military launched "military crackdown" which killed and displaced Rohingya Muslims. Since then 626,000 Rohingya Muslims have fled to neighboring Bangladesh.
