Old historic sites should be preserved and maintained and I am glad those friends took it upon themselves back in 1979 to take responsibility for the site. In San Antonio, there was a group of women who were disheartened at what had become of the Alamo and created an organization, "Daughters of the Republic of Texas" to preserve and protect it. Now all these years later we can enjoy the Alamo and its historic significance because of that group of women.
