So with all the worry about getting hack and cyber security in the news I thought id recommend a list of my favorite FREE tools to keep your machine a littler safer.
FULL DISK ENCRYPTION
Veracrypt

This is a given. If your machine is not encrypted and someone who knows what they are doing gets near it. Game over. Encryption with a decent password will keep your machine safe. Keep your stored and crypto safe!
ANTI VIRUS
Avast Free

This is a pretty decent AV better than windows defender at least and gets rated highly over at https://www.av-test.org
FIREWALL
Firewall: ZoneAlarm

As a basic software firewall I use ZoneAlarm.
MALWARE
Malware: Malwarebytes

Because AV is just not good enough. I tend to run this daily and acts as an additional layer of defense and more targeted at malware detection .
THIRD-PARTY SOFTWARE
File Hippo AppManager

Run this frequently to keep your third party software such as Java, Adobe, Web browsers, est up to date .
WEB BROWSER
Firefox
