On Saturday, something happens that changes our routine: The âinternet is downâ, it crashed, it stopped working! Yes, that's right, it would kind of be comical if it weren't tragic. Do you realize how important this is in our lives? How much of the internet, computers and cell phones are part of our daily lives and that it seems that the world is turned upside down when we are without them?
It's something complicated, because for the full development of our society, machines are increasingly present in them and along with everything the internet, 3G, 4G and now 5G, this is the evolution. However, there is a catch: how can something bring those who are far closer together and distance those who are close?
My family, besides me, are my wife and 2 children and even though they are so young (a girl aged 5 and a boy aged 9) they already feel the need for a cell phone, games and YouTube, in a way that even scares me. After all, at their age, I played in the street, soccer, running, screaming, talking to my little friends and so on.
It's been a few months since I realized how they were "dependent" on cell phones and the internet, and started a "emergency plan" , say, to try to get them out of it. I play a little more with them, go to the pool, draw pictures or call the whole family to watch a movie on television. Yes, television might be on the same list, but I don't consider it, I think a computer and cell phone is worse. TV is like the old fashioned way, your friends and family getting together watching a show together, for me it's collective.
So, with the downfall of the internet here today, I see this, how dependent we are and how we should try to change that. Don't let peripherals keep away those who live under the same roof as you, don't let metal and components create miles of distance with whoever is right next to you. The human warmth, the hug, the physical contact, will always be better than the individuality that technology sometimes gives us.
