English Version

Sometimes you have to take on the challenge, and even if you don't make it to the end, it can be something that marks your life forever.

"You just have to last a week with the challenge, it's easier than it seems"

And with those words, the four of us took on the challenge of watching the same movie every night for a week. Whoever got bored first lost, so to keep it from happening too quickly, we chose the movie "It's a Boy Girl Thing" together.

It seemed like a good choice because of its touch of comedy and romance. It would be hard to lose on a second replay; it wasn't bad to watch it one more time, or so we thought, so... we began the game.

And the first night we prepared everything. My cousins Rut and Raquel, my sister Zule, and I put a mattress on the floor, got comfortable together, turned off some lights as if it were a cinema hahaha, and had that first day to watch the movie at my aunt and uncle's house, where my sister and I stayed every summer when we visited our paternal family.

It was exciting. We laughed out loud, made jokes about the movie's scenes, had a lot of fun, but the next night the real challenge began: watching it again; and so every night, like a loop that repeated itself, we prepared our little cinema and watched the same movie again.

As expected, the second replay didn't have the same impact, but it was tolerable, and by the third everything started to change. We were already saying the characters' lines from memory, sometimes we laughed but more at ourselves and our imitations, and also at those moments when we gave up:

-"I don't think I can take anymore."

-"Come on, there are only about four days left hahaha."

Anyway, by the fourth night Raque and I gave up. We lost the challenge; we couldn't stand one more replay. And the funny thing is that even from the room, we could still hear the movie, and we looked at each other not with laughter but with a certain stubbornness 🫩, and we recited some lines from memory. Sometimes we still made fun of each other, but my God, it was too much 😂.

With great difficulty, Zule and Rut did manage to complete that goal. I don't think I'll ever understand how they did it 😂 — for me, it was already a punishment hahaha.

The truth is, every summer was like that. The dynamics changed, but my sister and I spent a whole month with the girls, and it was wonderful, because since we were little, more than cousins, we were like sisters.

We went out a lot to explore my grandfather's farm, watched TV shows and movies together, sang late into the night, and went camping with the church youth in Cantillo, where they lived.

We played all kinds of things: board games, tennis, soccer, baseball, volleyball, even if it was in teams of two, but it was fun. Now we're far apart; it's not as easy as when we were kids, but the love and those dynamics are still there, maybe a little different, though it's still exciting when the four of us are together again.

I will always treasure those beautiful memories. Although those are other stories I'll tell you another time hahaha.

Do you have cousins or friends with whom you've done challenges like this? What do you treasure most from the experiences you've shared together?
