¡Hola, familia Hive!

Aprender a hacer "Power UP", a delegar y transferir points.

Hello, Hive family! This is your friend shell975@shell975, and today I bring you my top 5 things I learned during my first month on Hive. The truth is that I have learned much more, but these are the main things that have marked my short journey here.

I joined Hive on August 20, 2026, a little over a month ago. I had never heard of this platform before. It all happened one day when I got tired of trying several cryptocurrency apps that were very complicated for me in every way. Since I am from Cuba, I sometimes had to use a VPN because my region was not supported by some of these apps, so I was banned. Other times, I simply gave up because I didn't see the point in spending my time watching advertisements for very small rewards. I wasn't making the most of those platforms; perhaps they work for other people, but that wasn't the case for me.

Since I didn't know much about the subject and didn't have anyone to ask, I searched on DeepSeek AI, and that was when I discovered Hive for the first time. I was never someone who used social media very openly. I have very few posts on Facebook, I don't use Instagram, and I don't post many statuses on WhatsApp. This was a challenge for me, but I wanted to give it a try, so I downloaded Ecency, created an account, and got to work. This is where my top begins:

1- Seek support; it is important when starting on Hive:

Even artificial intelligence advised me, before introducing myself to Hive, to seek help from the Cuban Hive Community on Telegram. I cannot talk about my beginnings on Hive without mentioning the wonderful Hive Cuba Community, which became my first home on Hive. That's where I made my introduction, received a warm welcome, and found documents and posts with advice for beginners.

They supported me when I ran out of RC (and I didn't even really understand what RC or the other terms used here meant). I had no choice but to ask for a delegation, and I am extremely grateful to carlosepc@carlosepc for the generous delegation that allowed me not to get "stuck" right at the beginning and to move more freely within this ecosystem.

"At first I was too embarrassed to ask for a delegation 🫣 until I understood what delegating meant on Hive 😅."

2- It is necessary to find communities that match your interests and preferences:

Regarding this, I am still learning, because I am part of many communities 😅. But just like Hive Cuba, I have felt especially connected to the Top Family Community and Ladies of Hive, both for participating in contests and for writing about topics through which I can share my voice with others, my experiences, and much more.

I also enjoy the Shadow Hunters Community, where I participated in a contest for the first time. I enjoyed the experience so much that it encouraged me to participate in others.

"There are communities for all kinds of things, and that is undoubtedly incredible ✨😍. I am addicted to contests on Hive hahaha 😃😂... well, not exactly 😝, but I really love those spaces!"

3- Understand that Hive is not only about publishing, but also about sharing and interacting with the community:

Hive translates into Spanish as "Colmena", meaning "Hive", and in a beehive, everyone doesn't go around independently without any connection to one another. Instead, they interact, come together with common purposes, and share.

And that's what Hive is, "I simply love it; it feels familiar hahaha."

The connection and freedom of expression that I had not shown before on other social networks have come naturally to me here. I thank God because I found a place where I feel comfortable expressing myself just as I am. Although I may do this openly with the people closest to me, it is wonderful to be able to do it on Hive as well, and to discover that even in other places there are people who share experiences and topics that touch my heart, just as theirs touch mine.

I am grateful to sacra97@sacra97, lagoticaderocio@lagoticaderocio, and many other Hivers whose posts made me feel that I had found a warm place, while also teaching me, through the structure of their posts, how to improve my own.

4- HIVE can be quite complicated at first; patience is necessary:

Many times I wondered whether I was doing things correctly or why I sometimes couldn't figure out how to do what I wanted to do here. In my first posts, I received advice from other Hivers, and by reading posts about introductions and getting started on this platform, I began to notice what I still needed to learn, looking for answers before simply rushing to publish.

So, at first, I read more than I posted, in order to learn, become familiar with the terminology used here, and understand what each thing meant. I learned how to do "Power Up," how to delegate, and how to transfer points. Although I made an effort to understand the app, reading a lot and then gradually trying out each tool made me feel safer and more comfortable.

5- It is necessary to prioritize growth over withdrawal:

I haven't withdrawn a single cent yet, and I decided that I won't do so until I reach my first 100 HP. At first, I thought the important thing was to accumulate liquid Hive, but I understood that without HP you don't have the same voice or resources to move around in the ecosystem.
HP isn't simply "money kept aside." It is the key that allows you to comment without running out of RC, vote with more weight, and publish without being blocked. I chose to grow and enjoy the process because "Hive rewards those who stay, not those who only stop by to collect."

This top 5 is based on my short experience and my initial journey. I know that everyone's experience is different, and I would love to hear about the journey other Hivers have gone through as well.

How would you describe your beginnings on Hive? What have you learned during your time on this platform? What do you enjoy doing most here?
