I’ve been chasing down issues with my car for a month now, ever since my last scan pulled up several fault codes. This time, I focused on code P0571: Brake Switch "A" Circuit, which points to a fault in the brake pedal switch circuit. >Llevo un mes persiguiendo fallas en mi carro, tras el último escaneo que hice que arrojo varios códigos de fallas. I even wrote two posts about it; in one, I mentioned that when the brake switch failed, I replaced it with one that didn't look like the best quality. My suspicions back then were right on the money—it didn't last long, it started causing the car to act up, and running the scan brought up the code I just mentioned. >Este problema ya lo enfrente un par de veces, tengo dos publicaciones donde hablo al respecto, en una indicó que tras la avería del interruptor del pedal de freno lo cambie, pero por uno que no se veía de muy buen calidad. Well, I’m not sure if it’s the same for every car, but in the Chery Arauca, this switch does more than just mechanically turn on the brake lights. It also acts as a safety feature that signals the pedal's position to the ECU. If there’s a mismatch between the intake manifold pressure and the switch state, the ECU cuts fuel injection during emergency braking. >Porque este interruptor causa fallas? The logical move would be to test it with a multimeter, but since mine was stolen, my only option was to check if the contacts were heavily carboned up, clean them off, and hopefully improve the voltage continuity. >Entonces ante este codigo toca desmontarlo y abrirlo para hacer una inspección visual. This is visible both on the moving contact inside the button mechanism and on the stationary terminal contact inside the switch body. >En las imágenes se puede notar que en los contactos que corresponde a la señal para la ECU que el pedal de freno fue pisado, hay una especie de carbón o recalentamiento. For now, the EPC (Electronic Power Control) light has turned off and the jerking has stopped, but it’s still losing power. I'll need to keep working through the rest of the codes to finally figure out exactly what’s going on. >Los lije y retire ese carbón con la esperanza que mejore la falla y se quite el código de error.
