Movie Review:
The movie shows the situation of boxing in North Madras through the events of 1970. But first we see our hero working as a laborer in a port factory and as soon as he finishes his work he rushes to the fair in their village Sarpatta to watch a boxing match. While leaving after winning the second round of their village fair boxing match, it is revealed that Kabilan is very afraid of his mother and Kabilan's mother always tries to keep him away from boxing. Because his mother doesn't want Kabilan to become a boxer.
Kabilan's father was also a boxing champion in their village, but he was killed in an enmity. But Kabilan loves the sport of boxing very much and has always loved coach Rangan like a father. On the other hand, on the day of the boxing final match of the fair, the Sarpatta village of coach Rangan and Idiyappan village of arch-nemesis coach Duraikannu Vaathiyar had a boxing final match, where Duraikannu Vaathiyar's team won. As a result, Duraikannu Vaathiyar then suggested to coach Rangan that there should be a boxing match between the two villages and the loser would shut down the boxing club in the village.
Coach Rangan then accepts this condition and as a boxer from his village, Coach selects Raman as a new player, excluding his own son. But when coach realizes that they cannot win the boxing match with Raman and Raman disrespects Rangan as his coach. As a result, Kabilan decides to play boxing to save his coach's honor by defeating Raman through boxing.
On the other hand it is seen that Kabilan is married off by his mother to divert him from the sport of boxing. But Kabilan plays boxing for his coach and kills and injures Raman and his uncle in the middle of the game. Due to the country's political problems, Coach Rangan was taken to jail by the police and at that time Kabilan also became a criminal and gave up the sport of boxing. When coach Rangan is released from jail, Kabilan approaches the coach and tells him that he will not teach boxing to lead a criminal life.
But since the two villages will have another boxing match, Kabilan is forced to apologize to his mother first, and his mother takes him to the best coach of his father's time. As a result, Kabilan regained his boxing fitness and participated in the sport with good boxing training. When Kabilan was getting weak mentally not seeing coach Rangan playing time, coach Rangan encouraged him and through interesting boxing match, Kabilan won and saved the coach's honor.
