ARKEMIS THE BEAR (1).png

Introduction

Hi everybody,

My name is shawnnft@shawnnft and I'm here to share my social media challenge blog post for the Social Media Challenge. For this challenge, I wanted to review Arkemis The Bear which is considered a promo card for the chaos legion set. It's a normal rarity, 12 mana melee monster that has protect which is if I'm not mistaken the highest mana card for a normal monster. It gains halving, forcefield and enrage in higher levels. I found this card to be a strong tank in the rise of the commons ruleset with a higher mana cap ruleset. Some other ok rulesets for it to be used are melee mayhem, super sneak and up close and personal.

Thoughts On Arkemis The Bear

Arkemis The Bear plays an interesting role in the meta. It added a new halving ability card to the game which only one card had before. This is a bit of a controversy because the team did say they wouldn't add another halving. They said the same about bloodlust being only gladius exclusive but then they added it onto cards like Grum and Jared Scar. In addition to that, Arkemis The Bear is also a new forcefield ability card to the game that can actually be a good frontline tank compared to the other forcefield cards.

Example of A Battle Being Used

I played this battle on my scholar account, bltzr-wizard-727. The battle link can be found here. This battle is in diamond modern league. The ruleset for this battle was rise of the commons with a 60 mana cap.

If you watched this battle, I completely overwhelmed my opponent. The halving from Artemis The Bear along with the demoralize from the Deeplurker put the Diemonshark's attack to 1 damage and with enrage to 2 damage. This was a huge reason why I won as usually Diemonshark can hit hard with 6 damage with enrage enabled. Artemis The Bear was able to get another halving on the Flying Squid since the Merdaali Guardian kept healing and giving armor the team to sustain the battle. This battle really highlights the strength of Aretemis The Bear in the rise of the commmons as it's probably the strongest tank for this ruleset as long as the mana cap allows for it to be utilized.

Do I Like Arkemis The Bear?

Personally, I do like Arkemis The Bear. I think it adds much needed diversity in the gameplay. I hope they introduce more cards with a different mix of abilities as it will make more possible gameplay combinations in different rulesets so there just won't be a go to team for a certain mana and ruleset. I hope they can do this in a balanced manner without too much power creep even though usually newer sets will usually have power creep which can be seen from Alpha and Beta cards compared to Chaos Legion cards. I also think the art is pretty cool for this card. Looking forward to more interesting promo cards and other card designs for the rebellion set in the future.
