Rangitoto Island is of volcanic origin. It is the cone of a young volcano that was erupting about 600 years ago.
The sunrise over Rangitoto was the first sunrise I saw in New Zealand. After arrival, we spent the night near Auckland, in Takapuna, just opposite it. All my luggage, except for hand luggage with a camera, was lost for a couple of days and did not arrive with me, so in that morning I had to take pictures from my bag, not from a tripod, and increase the ISO just in case. It seems to have worked out pretty well :)
It's better to watch the photo in high resolution.
