A few days ago I was reading some steemit posts and came to one that I felt spoke to me. I would very much like to give mention to the author of the post, but I wasn't very educated in Steemit yet and didn't understand the procedures to reply, upload or follow and since then I can't seem to locate it. BUT it did have an impact on me and hence this Lesson Learned Post.
The author mentioned how he couldn't understand why, when he was in a conversation with people, they seemed to always interrupt him mid sentence. He mentioned a variety of reasons he thought might apply but didn't seem to feel satisfied with any of them. I might offer a couple - just plain rude - or unaware!
As I thought about his query, I was convicted that I am prone to doing that very thing - interrupting that is. So Lesson Learned - STOP IT. Become more aware of those times, I am tempted to cut someone off mid sentence. To stop and wait - to make sure the other person is finished with their thought before interjecting my own. You see, my opinion is no brighter or better or important than anyone elses. Matter of fact it's probably less important, if the truth be known. So, my friends, for the last few days I've become painfully aware of just how hard this is to do at times. But I am determined - to be a better listener and a better friend and a better person. I guess that old saying "that's why God gave us 2 ears and 1 mouth" makes sense.
