• There is a controversy that has occurred when Sony declared that the Linux OS will be installed on the PlayStation 3. But it turns out all the PlayStation 3 already sold does not have a Linux system. Finally Sony confirmed that the menu to install another OS is in the XMB menu. However this has backfired as Linux OS users on PS 3 can end up playing pirated games.

• The PlayStation 3 is heavily criticized when adding the 6 Direction Movement Sensor (SIXAXIS) as it is considered to emulate the Nintendo Wii console control system.
• The PlayStation Network security system is questionable, because PSN is attacked by Hackers so it is temporarily closed on April 19, 2011. It says there are about 130 servers, 50 software programs, and 77 million PSN user accounts being casualties.
• The price is quite expensive, especially in Indonesia at the start of the PlayStation 3 launch priced up to the number of about 9 million versions 60 GB. Although in the end the price dropped dramatically.
• In general, PlayStation 3 sales can not compete with the same class as Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii. Even the results of PS 3 slim version also has not been able to boost sales of PS 3 to exceed the Xbox
