Share2Steem - Leaderboard and Scoring

Share2Steem v1 is coming in few days, and there will be many changes. We saw in an earlier update some screenshots of the brand new website, but we have much more to show.

Today we will present two new features that will be implemented in v1 :

the S2S score,
and the S2S Leaderboard.

Why a S2S score ?

As we saw with our first try at making our own Curation Trail, it is extremely difficult to dispatch votes between participants, according to the participation of each and every one of them.

We realized we need a solid foundation of scoring, that will allow us to dispatch our own @share2steem votes (as we will be focusing of gaining new delegations once v1 is online), but also the votes from the Curation Trail, as we want the votes received by the users as a reflection of their contribution to the #share2steem application.

The system of scoring we are putting in place will have multiple uses :

It will act as an incentive to participate, delegate, etc.. All things you do that improve your score will make the upvotes you receive bigger.
It will make abuses of the curation trail or the @share2steem votes impossible,
It will reward everyone depending on their activity, whether we're talking about delegation, promotion, participation in the curation trail, use of the application, upvotes of the @share2steem posts, ...

How is it calculated ?

We won't get into details, as it would be boring for most of you.
But let's take a look at the elements that will have an impact on the score (by order of importance) :

Posts' rewards of the user : as we take a fee, we consider that people who are "earning" us the most must be rewarded accordingly,
Participation in the curation trail : The more you upvote other users's posts, the most you will receive (from the other users and from @share2steem),
Delegations : If you're a delegator, you will get bigger upvotes (the "age" of the delegation will also be taken into account),
Consistency : The more regularly you use the #share2steem app, the higher your score will be,
Referrals : If you brought us a lot of new users, it will be taken into account,
Upvotes of the @share2steem posts : upvoting our posts will make your score higher, same for resteeming.

Users will get a "relative" score between 0 and 1000 points, and our upvote will depend of this score. The higher one ranks, the higher vote he gets.

The system is made so that someone can "buy" a high score : via delegating or making a few "big" posts but it is also made so that someone with no means can achieve a high score just by using the app frequently, participating in the Curation Trail, upvoting the @share2steem posts or bringing in a few referrals.

The S2S Leaderboard

The leaderboard will be publicly displayed on https://share2steem.com when v1 is released (the exact display is still uncertain). The score calculation is retroactive, all past actions will be taken into account.

The user will see the first places of the ladder and, of course, his own rank (and maybe a few above and behind him). Thus, he will be able to try to get a higher rank, to get a higher vote.
