There is a wonderful chemistry between food and time, which means we are forced to change our food habits, as and when years go by. And so, once a favorite food, becomes a strict diet, in our regular food routine.
Kichdi
My mother being an awesome cook, I had the privilege to taste sweet n sour, and bitter foods. In my school days, I loved eating tempered curd rice with potato fry. Gradually, this changed while in college, where I preferred breakfast recipes, rather than lunch.
Once I got married, I tried almost all kinds of foods from Vegetarian to Non Vegetarian. In Vegetarian, I loved paneer, while in non-veg I loved fish recepes. Those times I never had the fear of junk foods, tasting all those foods, which came my way. Desserts was my favourite. This went on for many years.
As mentioned earlier, food and time has a real chemistry. Aging stops us from tasting many foods, not because we are getting aged, but along with age comes in various diseases, at free of cost. And so comes in restrictions, where we are forced to choose limited and healhy food.
Now in my 50's I have become more health conscious. I focus more on healthy foods like leafy vegetables and millet grains. And my favourite food at present is kichdi - a healthy food made of raw rice and lentils with spices such as pepper, cumin, ginger and Asafoetida. It is usually made in ghee, otheruse called a saturated fat.
Porridge
This is such an amazing stomach fill recipe rich in protein, which has a soothing effect. Talking of dessert, my favorite sweet dish is payasam otherwise called as porridge . Half a glass is enough to make anyone happy. Usually it is consumed after lunch or dinner.
Right now, I love to serve rather than eat. And of course, I try new recipes for my family and friends. Craving is something which can't be stopped. In my dictionary, if you love to eat something we have to go ahead and try it.
Any favourite food can be tasted and eaten, keeping in mind our health condition. So enjoy good food and stay healthy.
