Alhamdulillah this year Ramadan is coming to an end. With that said  we as Muslims distribute our wealth for the year and give it as charity to the poor and needy. It's a 2.5% figure of the whole wealth which should be more than 7.5 Tola (93.75 grams).

So what we friends do is ask our close relatives and friends for donations during this month and then physically give it to the deserving. Although I don't criticize the huge charity based NGO's including EIDHI which has the largest ambulance fleet in the world that runs on charity. Or Imran Khans Shaukat Khanum hospital which is opening its third branch in Karachi, but the satisfaction that you gain when giving charity to the poor and seeing their face light up is something truly beautiful. So what we friends do is ask our close relatives and friends for donations during this month and then physically give it to the deserving. We got a lot of of funds and donations through these people and I am very thankful to them for the support. We did four things with it.

Made Rashan Packages. These are packets that have necessary food for one month. We made 60 such packets and dirtributed them, each packet included.

  1. 10 kg wheat
  2.  5 kg rice
  3.  2 kg sugar
  4.  1 kg salt
  5. 250 gram tea mix
  6.  1 kg kabuli chana
  7.  1 kg daal chana
  8.  1 kg daal mong
  9.  1 kg besan
  10.  1 bottle rooh afza
  11.  1 kg ghee
  12.  1 packet dates

These were sufficient for a whole month.

Secondly we provided patients with medicines at hospitals that they could not afford themselves and gave a school run by an NGO to buy desks for classes so that students can sit there properly and study.

Lastly we made an Iftaar drive iftaari is the second meal of the day during Ramadan for a Muslim it is done after keeping a fast for the whole day. We distributed Iftaar to 150 students and teachers. It was a wonderful experience seeing such happy faces.
