Hello fellow Steemerians. My apologies for being quiet for so long, but life as a writer and publisher has been keeping me fairly busy this past week while also having to deal with the flu which just refuses to stay away.

Today I want to deal with a rather exciting topic that always has writers and readers talking. Genres. In my years of writing books, films and games, genre has always been essential to my work. I usually stick to two main genres, playing around with certain sub-genres within them, but I have been delving more into unknown territory to really test my skill as a diverse writer. I've been doing this with our series of short story anthologies that are split over various genres, but more on that in a moment.

Let's focus on genres for a moment longer. I really want to know from you what your favourite genres are. For me, I seem to be really attached to fantasy and horror genres at the moment. Since I was a teen, I was very fixated on reading fantasy novels, especially epic fantasy series of books that never seem to end. Long journeys in magical worlds really did it for me, which is probably why I really love writing them.

My first trilogy of novels, The Celenic Earth Chronicles, is epic fantasy, and my latest published novel, Heroes of Antreya: The Journey Begins, is a fantasy novel based on a game I am a writer for, currently in game development by Antreya Studios.

The Dreamweaver series I am working on is romantic fantasy, although more fantasy than romance.

Dream Whispers

My Malum series that I am busy developing is dark fantasy, which is inspired by the Diablo games by Blizzard Entertainment that I thoroughly loved playing. I've been releasing some teaser cards on my Twitter platform for this novel, hyping it up for further excitement.

And my Silent Hill book series is horror.

I've been delving here and there in other genres. Tipping my toe in the various pools, so to speak. As a publisher and owner of Celenic Earth Publications, I have created a whole series of short story anthologies based on genres. CEA Through the Dark is horror and CEA Into the Beyond is science fiction.

You can view the full list of anthologies here that are still open for submission.

For each anthology, I write and include a story of my own. These anthologies were created to help the average writer who has had little exposure gain more experience in the craft. As an aside, it has also helped me spread my wings into other genres that I have no intention of creating full length novels for. It's best I stick to what I know and love for the novels, while simply dipping into the jacuzzi of other genres available.

Everyone has their own taste when it comes to genres, and I would really like to give you an opportunity to share which genres really tickle your fancy and why. The why is very important to me, as the insight into the love for a genre always fascinates me. So feel free to share in the comments below and let's start a lively discussion on genres.

Kind regards
