I write down total of each coin. Believe me a 4 TB hard drive can store thousands of wallets. For passwords when creating wallets write them down, plus back up a wallet, on USB or many other forms in case some one steals your laptop or etc. That wallet data will get your wallet back on new downloaded wallet.
If stolen and you created a 25 character password. Trust me he would need a super computer 99 years to get them, but surely by that time , I am sure you created a new wallet.
