A Poem: Blessed Butterfly
Author: Joe DeMarco
I have a friend who lives far away.
We have not seen each other in quite some time.
I think about her quite often.
Broken road is our song.
It matches the song of our lives so well.
I send her messages from time to time.
Letting her know I'm thinking of her.
Today an unknown number came across my phone.
The location was her state.
I said she lives quite far away.
For a brief moment my heart jumped,
could this be her calling.
I answer it, and it was a wrong number.
My heart sank a little.
It's been a while since we've talked.
I send her messages from time to time,
Letting her know i'm thinking of her.
I think about her quite often.
When I'm out for a walk, and I see a little butterfly.
Remembering a few of our moments.
Remembering how close we were.
Tearing up how far we've drifted.
Thinking about hard life has become,
I long to hear her voice.
But times change, as people do.
Holding onto our friendship tightly,
finding reason to believe that it would never change.
Afraid to face the truth that it already has.
I wonder if she'll ever read this,
and if she does, I want her to know
I think of her quite often.
I want her to know that she made some pretty dark times very colorful.
How not a day goes by that I am not thankful for what friendship we had.
I want her to know how much she truly means.
A close sister, always and forever.
Forever and always a dear friend.
One written for a love lost long ago. What do you think?
