Where do we stand now that the COVID-19 pandmeic has enveloped the world?
"We are all in this together."
This couldn't be further from the truth. We are not all riding this out together on the same plain. The elite are doing well, many in the tech industry are working from home and well off while the essential workers have borne the brunt of the pandemic damage. The lower class is facing mass eviction.
Our global standing has been revealed as the tide has receded.
Everyone is on their own as infection rates rise. The threat of a hastily produced vaccine and new recession is evident now. We stand to take a major beating from the 30-50 million unemployed Americans and the gaping hole in world demand.
Our economy is 70% consumption. Pausing the economy is therefore not an option. Service sector jobs from movie theaters to oil fields are gone forever. Demand has been rocked in a system that relies on just in time delivery.
Where do we stand? Are we evening standing at all? We must stand together in our communities or together we will fall.
