I wasn't planning on doing this, it's an idea that came to me out of the blue a few days ago and, after thinking about it, I think it might be interesting or at the very least, fun. I thought I would look back a bit and briefly remember some of the titles I shared this year in the community. I won't talk about all the games because it would get too long, I'll just talk about the ones that, for me, were the "best" or "most important" of the year. Maybe this can also serve as a sort of recommendation list for those who haven't tried those games.

It was a pretty good start of the year, I remember seeing FFXV in the PlayStation Store new year offers and, as a game that had always made me curious, but I had never tried it because I was not a fan of the saga, I decided to take this opportunity and see how it was. I must say that although it is a title that at the time received many negative reviews, I personally found it quite fun, I enjoyed every moment of Noctis traveling along the road with his companions, as well as the variety of gigantic enemies that you find throughout the adventure, not to mention that the story, although very criticized too, I found it interesting and even managed to make me sentimental at various times.

Oh Elden Ring, I think anyone who has completed this game will surely remember it as one of the best of their year. Elden Ring was that title that made me forget my dislike for the Soul saga and ended up trapping me in its wonderful world. It is difficult to talk about this title in a summarized way, taking into account the vast amount of things it has that make it so good, but if I had to think of "the best", I would say it is the feeling of exploration and discovery that it gives you, especially in the first hours, no matter what path you take or where you go, you will surely find something, a cave, a dungeon, a mini boss, a chest trap, no matter, it is a world full of enigmas waiting to be discovered by the player.

Infernax. One of those games that I knew long before its release, I remember seeing it the first time it was announced and everything I saw in that trailer I loved. A retro game with an adult tone where dismemberments and flying viscera are the order of the day. Mechanically very simple, imitating several old school titles, which may be indifferent to many, but a barrier for others, as it can be somewhat uncomfortable to adapt to a somewhat archaic and crude combat, but if you can overcome that, you'll see that it's a pretty good game.
4 (2).png
Now let's go with one of my wonders of the year, I knew I would love it because of how the combat is and because I'm a fan of parrys. Sifu is a game that touches the technical excellence, with a frenetic combat, satisfying and very challenging in many aspects, all this with a quite original mechanic behind where you age and become more powerful with each death. A game that I felt like a love letter, with each death and aged year I was encouraged to learn more, I wanted to do better, I wanted to master the combat, because once you manage to adapt, you can do absolute barbarities, you feel powerful to face against 4 or 5 enemies and win without them touching you, an absolute marvel.
4 (3).png
Persona 5 Strikers. I have split feelings with this game, Persona 5 Royal was one of the best JRPG's I've ever played, I find it a game that does just about everything perfect. So when I saw that P5 Strikers left out the turn-based combat and went the hack and slash route, buf, it was a bit of a disappointment, most games in this genre seem like a 'button masher' to me, but I still ended up giving it a chance just because it was the Persona saga. To my surprise, I ended up liking it a lot, they found a way to give that strategic touch to the fights, adding weaknesses, strengths and immunities, which makes us have to evaluate how we fight and prevents us from going crazy launching attacks and special abilities, in fact, on many occasions I was overcome by several bosses and I had to stop for a moment to modify the fighting style that my team had. It's a good game, I could recommend it without fear.

Playing this was a dream come true, everyone told me that Dragon Quest XI was a magical game full of fantasy, well, they were not wrong. It is a game that, because of the kind of story it has and the beauty of the scenery, makes you feel like you are inside a typical fairy tale where you are the hero and you must fight the darkness to save the world. One of the criticisms it has is that it is "too classic", personally I see nothing wrong with this, it is a turn-based JRPG of all life, although it is true that it does not have new mechanics like some of the P5 Royal, I think that being a classic JRPG in the style of the old school is not a reason for criticism or makes it a bad game. The immense world full of creatures, chests, secrets, the cities full of people who will talk to you and give you some secondary mission, the fights against powerful hidden bosses that will make you sweat, is a traditional JRPG experience that, if you love turn-based combat, will surely get you hooked.

Cursed to Golf, a hidden gem and I dare say even underrated. This is a Roguelike that takes many of the elements of the genre but, instead of making us fight in the usual way, it will make us fight in a Golf competition where we will advance through different holes until we reach the end of the level. We will be able to find different temporary improvements throughout the scenarios that will allow us to execute fun shots with the ball and, each important dungeon will be "controlled" by a boss, which conveniently will be a professional in golf and will challenge us to a duel. Undoubtedly an original game like few others and very entertaining.

Marvel Snap, my biggest surprise of the year. A game that I didn't trust at all, I saw the trailers and I just thought "how boring, cards", until one day I decided to try it and well, today I have played it for more than 250 hours, not a day goes by without opening it to play a few games. And although it may be partly because I like the comics and I know the characters, I think the wide possibility of decks that the game gives you also makes it very fun, not to mention that for players who have not invested a single dollar (like me), it is a very friendly game, the "pay to win" component is almost nonexistent, I have reached high divisions and I have stayed in them without spending a single penny, and I think this is an important factor and one of the biggest reasons why people get so hooked. It's a game that you can take either casually or seriously and try to climb the ranks, whichever you choose you will end up having fun.

And so ends my year, honestly it was a very good year in terms of titles played and I'm glad I was able to share almost all my experiences here. There were also some games that I enjoyed but for different reasons I couldn't share in the community, like God of War Ragnarok, which is definitely in my top 3 of the year. Finally, it only remains for me to wish you a great end of 2022 and I sincerely hope that 2023 will be a wonderful year for everyone, best regards.
