I continue my adventure in the lands of Elden Ring. I'm surprised how hooked I am on the game, considering it's my second run. I guess the fact that it's been two years helps. But anyway, after defeating the first boss I spent a little time exploring the surroundings in search of a weapon, because, although the stone hammer I had was pretty good, I was wondering if I could find something better.
After a couple of laps around the map (and some reading on the internet), I was able to find a curious weapon; a giant anchor that I remember seeing the first time I played but never used. Now that I'm focusing on strength, this weapon comes in handy, since it scales with that attribute. At power level it's a bit more powerful than the hammer, but honestly I decided to use it mostly because I find it funny to carry a giant anchor on my shoulder.
Then I decided to pay a visit to the swamp at the beginning, where I remember there was a dragon. I confronted him and, after a couple of kills, I was able to defeat him. As I imagined, it cost me less than I expected, I guess it also influences that the weapon is powerful, because it took a good amount of life with each hit.
Continuing through the main area I took the opportunity to face one of the first bosses or heavy enemies you encounter when you start the game. Interestingly, this one took me a bit longer than the dragon, it was a few tries before I finally defeated him. Defeating him gave me his halberd, which is pretty cool, but I still prefer my anchor.
Finally I decided to continue with the main path, which was practically advancing through the castle. On this path I didn't find anything particularly remarkable, only enemies and some objects that I will probably never use. When I reached the final point of the castle, there was the entrance to the second important boss: Godric.
In my first playthrough, this boss was a bit of a wall in my way, I remember it took me a bit to get used to his attack patterns and all. This time it was different, even though I died a couple of times, it took me much less tries. I'd say by the 5th try I was able to defeat him.
As a reward for defeating Godric, we will get his memory. Here we can choose whether to consume it to gain a lot of runes and level up or, instead, transform the memory into a weapon, which in this case is his axe. I chose the latter because I was intrigued by what the axe would be like, but after trying it out I didn't love it, so I decided to stick with the anchor, at least for the time being.
With Godric dead, the next objective is the magic school, Raya Lucaria's academy, but I'll leave the adventure here for today. Honestly, I have no intentions of going crazy exploring everything like I did in my first run, but who knows, maybe as I go along I'll be tempted by some dungeon or mini-boss I find out there. Also, I'd like to find more force weapons to try, but we'll see.
