HBO colpisce ancora.

ENG
Sally was perhaps the creator of the wittiest moments of reflection on contemporary mass media reality.
The young woman achieved great success with her show, titled "Joplin," which put audiences and critics at ease but not the algorithm of the fake streaming platform with which she had struck a deal.
It will be the algorithm that will extinguish what seemed to be a rising star swallowed up by the economic, superficial, and meaningless calculations of a machine that will end up deciding the life, death, and miracles of artists, actors, and authors all over the world. It is the logic that has long dwelled in the halls of producers and streaming tycoons and that often ends up destroying entire careers, either by calculation or by unfortunate exits (from this point of view, it is incredible to witness how a darling of the feminist people like Sally is crucified for a rant she made with her former assistant, an assistant who in fact had stolen her idea, job, fame and success).
Sally will be, in the finale, a perfect trait d'union with Barry with whom she has experienced highs but mostly big lows this season, dictated by a rant Barry, in turn, had made to Sally. The girl realizes that although he has always been loving and affectionate with her, Barry is, at heart, a violent and psychopathic person.
Barry's essence will be revealed to everyone, but especially to himself, in all its power, in the finale of this beautiful season.
Barry, after overcoming a thousand vicissitudes (most tasty the pursuit of that handful of bloodthirsty bikers who, one by one, are torpedoed by Barry or by unpredictable external situations) ends up being re-embraced by Sally (or perhaps we should say exploited by the girl because of his killer skills) in a very Tarantino-esque scene and to welcome the desperate cry of Gene Cousineau who, after various tugs and pulls, had become a kind of "Dad-Mentor" for Barry this season.
A finally rediscovered Barry, aching, wounded, forgiven by his former colleague in the marines minutes earlier, and intent on never again being a weapon of offense to anyone, finds himself in an impossible situation.
Responding to that cry for help from Gene was, perhaps, one of the most humane things Barry has done in recent seasons. To put himself at risk, to renege on the same promise he made a few hours earlier, to dive back into the old habits in order to save that man in danger is a most powerful sacrificial act.
Too bad that behind the scenes someone, that very someone for whom he was throwing himself into the flames, was plotting against him, to get revenge on Janine Moss but also to save his own butt from the embers.
And so, that crackling finale brings us a trapped Barry as a dowry and delivers an unsuspected villain, far less grumpy than Fuches, far less bizarre than Ho Ho Hank, far less bloody than Barry.
Gene Cousineau, the absentee father, the arrogant actor, the misogynistic heartthrob of 30 years earlier, re-emerges ruthless and egotistical in a finale we didn't expect but which manages to give further meaning to an excellent season, relaunching us toward a highly anticipated season 4.
