Come di consueto oggi vi porto dentro una nuova Anteprima di un articolo che fra qualche giorno o settimana vedrete Nella Mente di un SerialFiller, il mio blog interamente incentrato sul mondo delle serie tv e di cui, da qualche mese, ho deciso di regalarvi costantemente, in anticipo su quello che pubblicherò, gran parte dei post che vedrete su www.serialfiller.org.

Nella terza stagione quella spaccatura netta fra la parte comica e drammatica diventa sempre meno marcata, con la serie che, pur concedendosi momenti di comic relief sempre abbondanti, sagaci, intelligenti ed efficaci, sembra voler prendere una piega molto più drama.

Se avete visto la terza stagione saprete, di certo, che non è finita bene per il nostro Barry.
In linea generale, però, non è andata benissimo neppure a Sally, che pur aveva iniziato in pompa magna la stagione.
Men che meno, seppure superficialmente si potrebbe dire l'esatto contrario, è andata bene a Mr Cousineau, che ha oramai compromesso la sua residua dose di coscienza.
Per Ho Ho Hank è stata una debaclè tutta la stagione e persino Fuches, dopo aver giocato a fare il Macchiavelli, si è trovato vittima di se stesso.
Dopo 2 stagioni trascorse a mostrarci il lato volenteroso di Barry e tutte le macchiette superlative che il suo personaggio generava con un effetto domino dilagante su tutti gli altri personaggi, ecco che nella terza stagione i giochi iniziano a scatenare una spirale ineluttabile di caos e tragedia.
La tragedia di solito, si suol dire, può diventare farsa. Qui pare che sia capitato l'esatto opposto con la farsa che man mano si è fatta tragedia.
Prendiamo Ho Ho Hank, da sempre forse il personaggio più divertente e assurdo. Continua ad esserlo anche in questa fase ma il suo innamoramento verso Gilberto viene messo a dura prova almeno 4-5 volte, ed ogni volta sembrava essere sopravvissuto, fino all'ultimo episodio in cui quell'amore sembra essere svanito per sempre per cause di forza maggiore. L'emancipazione di Ho Ho Hank dal mondo criminale e da una vita da capo eterosessuale duro, puro ed inflessibile, sembra essere fallita. Il pelato boss è stato risucchiato dal vortice folle che si è innescato in questa stagione.
Anche Fuches, il personaggio più smaccatamente spietato e dichiaratamente a caccia di una vendetta personale, non è riuscito ad accontentarsi di quei momenti di quiete, vissuti in Cecenia, che sembravano averlo finalmente messo in pensione, beato e felice con le sue capre. La cieca vendetta lo ha portato a mettersi contro il proprio figlio adottivo, senza, tuttavia, essere in grado di mettere in salvo se stesso visto che finirà per essere il "The Raven" che i goffi poliziotti millantavano da inizio stagione.
La terza stagione, però, è stata soprattutto la stagione di Sally, Gene e Barry.

Henry Winkler, unforgettable interpreter of Fonzie in Happy Days, and Bill Hader are back with the third season of Barry and they haven't hinted at lessening the dose of absurdity, funny and surreal moments coupled with a general situation that we could easily sum up as "it's all going to hell."
You already know what I think of Barry, especially if, a few months ago you had a chance to read this post.
Praise for Bill Hader's series is a given.
Barry is unique in the serial landscape, a series I have always called a "Dexter in comedy sauce."
In the third season that sharp split between the comedy and drama sides becomes less and less pronounced, with the series that, while indulging in moments of comic relief that are always plentiful, sagacious, clever and effective, seems to want to take a much more drama turn.

If you have seen the third season you will know, for sure, that it did not end well for our Barry.
Generally speaking, however, it did not end well for Sally either, who although she had started the season on a high note.
Least of all, although superficially one might say the exact opposite, went well for Mr. Cousineau, who has by now compromised his remaining dose of conscience.
For Ho Ho Hank it has been a debacle all season, and even Fuches, after playing Macchiavelli, has found himself a victim.
After 2 seasons spent showing us Barry's willing side and all the superlative gimmicks his character generated with a domino effect rampant on all the other characters, here in season 3 the games begin to unleash an inescapable spiral of chaos and tragedy.
Tragedy usually, it is said, can become farce. Here the exact opposite seems to have happened with farce gradually becoming tragedy.
Take Ho Ho Hank, always perhaps the funniest and most absurd character. He continues to be so even at this stage but his falling in love with Gilberto is put to the test at least 4-5 times, and each time he seemed to have survived, until the last episode in which that love seems to have vanished forever for reasons of force majeure. Ho Ho Hank's emancipation from the criminal world and from a life as a tough, pure, inflexible heterosexual boss seems to have failed. The bald boss has been sucked into the insane vortex that has been set in motion this season.
Even Fuches, the most blatantly ruthless character and avowedly on the hunt for personal revenge, has failed to settle for those quiet moments, experienced in Chechnya, that seemed to have finally retired him, blissful and happy with his goats. Blind revenge has led him to turn against his own adopted son, without, however, being able to save himself since he will end up being the "The Raven" that the clumsy cops have been bragging about since the beginning of the season.
The third season, however, was mostly the season of Sally, Gene, and Barry.
