Come di consueto oggi vi porto dentro una nuova Anteprima di un articolo che fra qualche giorno o settimana vedrete Nella Mente di un SerialFiller, il mio blog interamente incentrato sul mondo delle serie tv e di cui, da qualche mese, ho deciso di regalarvi costantemente, in anticipo su quello che pubblicherò, gran parte dei post che vedrete su www.serialfiller.org.

Rhaenira e Daemon sono 2 personaggi caratterizzati estremamente bene ma nel corso della prima metà di stagione sono emersi tanti altri personaggi di enorme impatto. Basti pensare a al re Viserys che, nel suo apparire debole e sconfitto sin dal primo episodio, ha creato le basi di un conflitto che promette scintille. La morte di Aemma, da lui involontariamente causata, il rifiuto di un matrimonio con la figlia di Corlys Velaryon, la scelta di Alicent Hightower come sua nuova sposa, la nascita di Aegon, i litigi e la protezione di Rhaenira, la malattia che sopraggiunge, l'allontanamento dell'amato fratello Daemon lo hanno posto in una posizione centrale rispetto a tutto ciò che è avvenuto e tutto ciò che avverrà. La battaglia per il trono nasce proprio a causa della sua debolezza e della sua, paradossalmente, saggezza. Se non avesse respinto il fratello, oggi sarebbe tutto più chiaro e cristallino, al popolo come ai nemici e Westeros sarebbe un affare dei Targaryen ancora per secoli. L'incertezza sul futuro del reame, le battaglie intestine, gli errori di giudizio hanno, invece, permesso che tutti si sentissero in diritto di pretendere un pezzettino della torta e di attendere come avvoltoi la morte del sovrano.
E proprio Alicent, personaggio molto interessante sebbene ancora molto silente, si sta rivelando un boomerang inatteso per Viserys il quale aveva rischiato il suo stesso regno sposandola in nome dell'amore e non della convenienza e che che adesso, invece, si ritrova una nemica giurata dei Targaryen nel suo stesso letto. In questo episodio, infatti, vediamo come una serie di eventi ribaltino, repentineamente, la visione della giovanissima regina, trasformandola in una serpe in seno al trono. L'allontanamento del padre Otto, le bugie di Rhaenira, la confessione di Ser Criston, le nozze della sua amica - figlioccia, le hanno insegnato a non fidarsi e costruire alleanze, dentro e fuori il palazzo di cui sentiremo sicuramente parlare negli eventi, decisamente cruenti ed imprevedibili, che ci attendono.

As usual, today I am bringing you inside a new Preview of an article that in a few days or weeks you will see In the Mind of a SerialFiller, my blog entirely focused on the world of TV series and of which, for the past few months, I have decided to constantly give you, in advance of what I will publish, most of the posts you will see on www.serialfiller.org.
At the same time, Rhaenira, demonstrates that she still has a chilling chemistry with her Uncle Daemon (Matt Smith) who, meanwhile, kills his lawful wife Rhea in the Vale, freeing up a post at the Targaryen table, setting himself up for an eventual palace marriage that would allow him to regain positions in the line of succession to the throne and in the King's Landing grid. That his sights are set squarely on Rhaenira is an established fact; that Daemon is plotting more is even more certain.

Rhaenira and Daemon are 2 characters who are extremely well characterized, but during the first half of the season many other characters of enormous impact have emerged. Just think of King Viserys who, in his weak and defeated appearance from the very first episode, set the stage for a conflict that promises sparks. Aemma's death, unintentionally caused by him, his refusal of a marriage to Corlys Velaryon's daughter, his choice of Alicent Hightower as his new bride, Aegon's birth, Rhaenira's quarrels and protection, the illness that overtakes him, and the estrangement of his beloved brother Daemon have placed him in a central position with respect to all that has happened and all that will happen. The battle for the throne arises precisely because of his weakness and his, paradoxically, wisdom. If he had not rejected his brother, everything would be crystal clear today, to the people as well as to their enemies, and Westeros would still be a Targaryen affair for centuries. Uncertainty about the future of the realm, infighting, and errors in judgment have, instead, allowed everyone to feel entitled to claim a piece of the pie and to wait like vultures for the death of the ruler.
And it is precisely Alicent, a very interesting though still very silent character, who is proving to be an unexpected boomerang for Viserys who had risked his own reign by marrying her in the name of love and not convenience and who now, instead, finds himself a sworn enemy of the Targaryens in his own bed. Indeed, in this episode, we see how a series of events overturn, abruptly, the vision of the very young queen, turning her into a serpent in the bosom of the throne. The estrangement of her father Otto, Rhaenira's lies, Ser Criston's confession, and the wedding of her friend-daughter-in-law have taught her not to trust and build alliances, inside and outside the palace, which we will surely hear about in the decidedly bloody and unpredictable events that lie ahead.

Also deserving of mention is Ser Criston, White Knight to Princess Rhaenira who, in a fit of passion, in the last episode had let Ser Criston's "oath" fall and their destinies intertwine. The choice to marry Laenor and to ask Ser Criston to be, basically, her lover (or her "whore" as he will call himself) will catapult the young knight into a crisis that will drive him to slaughter, during the coming wedding celebrations, the future prince's secret companion and to attempt suicide on the episode finale, averted by that Alicent who, in the shadows, seems to aspire to use him as an inner, secret bird in the struggle for succession of the throne in which he would like his firstborn son Aegon to participate, and win.
