Come sempre vi aspetto su www.serialfiller.org.
Grazie dell'attenzione!

This is the future link to the post that I am inviting you to read in the coming days at www.serialfiller.org and which is previewed here

As usual, today I am bringing you inside a new Preview of an article that in a few days or weeks you will see In the Mind of a SerialFiller, my blog entirely focused on the world of TV series and of which, for the past few months, I have decided to constantly give you, in advance of what I will publish, most of the posts you will see on www.serialfiller.org.

Disappointed but enslaved by Game of Thrones?

Still unable to recover from the terrible ending of the series based on George Martin's books?

Have you always wondered where the mother of dragons came from?

August 22, 2022, besides being a date chock-full of "2" numbers, will be a date to remember, and it was a date that many had marked in red on their calendars, virtual or physical.
HBO, after much chatter and much conflicting news, let our curiosity be satisfied, and along with it our atavistic desire to see a great work like this fail.
Eleven and a half years after the pilot of Game of Thrones appeared on Earth on April 17, 2011 (here is a tribute post of mine on the 10 years since the birth of GOT) and more than 3 years after the controversial and highly criticized finale, which aired on May 19, 2019, HBO returns to tell us about the universe created by George R. Martin, bringing the hands of history back a full 172 years to the birth of Daenarys Targaryen, unforgettable heroine of The Iron Throne.
House of The Dragon is a prequel to Game of Thrones, a prequel focused primarily on the Targaryen dynasty, the one that would lead, for us GOT viewers, to the birth of the mother of dragons, of the one who would fulfill countless prophecies and clear the Targaryen name years after the dynastic and other misfortunes that bore the name and signature of King Aerys, aka "The Mad King."
Everyone has been talking about it, book and series connoisseurs, lovers of the books, lovers of the series, ignorant on the subject, disappointed by the GOT finale, bloggers, critics, onlookers, Instagrammers, youtubers, pizza makers, pharmacists, gas stations, and maybe even some Komodo dragons.
I'll have to tag along and talk about it too, by the way, with extreme pleasure and extreme eagerness to share with you the feelings, objective and subjective, left behind by the 61 minutes of The Heirs of The Dragon.

The question on everyone's mind, many even somewhat deviously in the hope of being faced with failure, was whether this operation made any sense.
With due distinctions, it seemed to me to go back to the days of the coming of Better Call Saul pilot (by the way, I talked about the first episode of the Breaking Bad spinoff in this recent article) when there was a lot of anxiety about finding out whether that operation was merely commercial, simply nostalgic or had the makings of expanding the universe from which it was taken, managing to carve out its own narrative independence without straying from the world within which it was going to be grafted. Recent history, and the 10-rated series finale, told us how Better Call Saul had been birthed by 2 genius minds like Peter Gould and Vince Gilligan who would never ruin a masterpiece like Breaking Bad. On balance there are many, including yours truly, who think that Better Call Saul has, even, the qualifications to be considered slightly superior to the series from which it is taken, in that case Breaking Bad.
This whole prologue served to tell you a couple of things.
The first is that if you stretch, deepen, branch out a particular story from a show as dear to many and of such enormous television-historical-cultural relevance as that left for posterity by both Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones then you have to do it with a dose of courage behind it equal only to the dose of certainty that what you will tell will be worth not only being told but being juxtaposed with those shows.
The second is that if for Better Call Saul we all hoped that it would be the Breaking Bad writers who would write and develop the show and characters, for House of The Dragon we all hoped, upon hearing the news that the spinoff would be there, that the Game of Thrones writers, Benioff & Weiss, would not be the same as the spinoff writers. The guilt, and in some cases the malice, of having ruined the philosophy, soul, premise, and promise of the early years of Game of Thrones with a rough, superficial, and out-of-phase final season was so high that it made Benioff & Weiss 2 dangerous enemies for all fans of the saga, and not only, who for more than 3 years have considered the 2 of authors as the architects of a truly disappointing finale, perhaps more disappointing than the finale of Dexter, in unison recognized as the worst finale in TV history
