Come di consueto oggi vi porto dentro una nuova Anteprima di un articolo che fra qualche giorno o settimana vedrete Nella Mente di un SerialFiller, il mio blog interamente incentrato sul mondo delle serie tv e di cui, da qualche mese, ho deciso di regalarvi costantemente, in anticipo su quello che pubblicherò, gran parte dei post che vedrete su www.serialfiller.org.

A valle di un primo matrimonio fallito miseramente nonostante la coppia fosse amatissima dai rotocalchi, Tyson iniziò ad essere dipinto, dalle donne che amava, come un uomo violento. Fu questo il motivo per cui il primo matrimonio finì. Era vero? Verosimile?
La serie non emette sentenze ma sembra suggerire che in alcune fasi l'uomo fosse irascibile ed incontrollabile, forse anche violento, ma che, al tempo stesso, fossero moltissime le persone ad approfittarsi di lui, del suo patrimonio e, tutto sommato, del suo gran cuore.
Uno su tutti? Don King, il manager dai capelloni folti ed elettrici, l'uomo che, al contrario di Tyson, riuscì ad elevarsi in prigione ed a mettere a frutto la sua esperienza in carcere, studiando libri e diventando più astuto, saggio e manipolatore. Sarà lui a spingere Tyson all'estremo, sarà lui ad arricchirsi senza sosta, sarà lui a rappresentare l'emblema dell'avvoltoio.
Tyson, però, finirà coinvolto in uno scandalo sessuale (e qui la serie ci suggerisce ampiamente la colpevolezza di Mike) in cui verrà accusato di aver violentato una diciottenne nella sua camera d'albergo.

Arrivarono sconfitte e soldi a palate e poi arrivò Holyfield.
Fu li che Tyson iniziò a toccare il fondo, almeno agli occhi della gente.
Fu li che avviò il declino che lo avrebbe portato a ritirarsi qualche anno dopo.
Una storia, come dicevamo, tragica ma anche di riscatto.
Il riscatto del tonto e grasso Mike, la rinascita dopo la prigione, il risollevarsi ogni volta che la vita gli presentava il conto, il non arrendersi ma anche lo stupro, la galera, la violenza, gli sprechi, gli eccessi.
Oggi Tyson, come la voce narrante ci suggerisce senza rivelarlo mai, sembra essere una persona diversa, in pace con sè stessa, mitigata dagli anni e dagli eventi.
Come il vorticoso finale ci racconta, Mike Tyson è una persona complessa, sfaccettata, fatta di contrasti, di istinto, di naturali esplosione.
Mike Tyson è tante cose.
Mike Tyson non è una sola cosa.
Come Trevonte Rhodes dirà, mentre le immagini che avevano dominato i 7 episodi precedenti si alternano, Mike Tyson (ovvero lui stesso) IT'S NOT JUST ONE THING.

As usual, today I am bringing you inside a new Preview of an article that in a few days or weeks you will see In the Mind of a SerialFiller, my blog entirely focused on the world of TV series and of which, for the past few months, I have decided to constantly give you, in advance of what I will publish, most of the posts you will see on www.serialfiller.org.

Downstream from a first marriage that failed miserably despite the couple being beloved by the tabloids, Tyson began to be painted, by the women he loved, as a violent man. This was the reason the first marriage ended. Was this true? Verisimilitude?
The series makes no judgments but seems to suggest that at some stages the man was short-tempered and uncontrollable, perhaps even violent, but that, at the same time, there were plenty of people to take advantage of him, his wealth and, all in all, his big heart.
One out of all of them? Don King, the manager with the thick, electric hair, the man who, unlike Tyson, managed to rise in prison and put his experience in prison to good use, studying books and becoming more astute, wise, and manipulative. He will be the one to push Tyson to the extreme, he will be the one to enrich himself relentlessly, he will be the emblem of the vulture.
Tyson, however, will end up embroiled in a sex scandal (and here the series largely suggests Mike's guilt) in which he will be accused of raping an 18-year-old girl in his hotel room.
Those were the years of the feared and unbeatable Iron Mike. They were years broken and interrupted by conviction. Mike Tyson, one of the richest and most famous men in the world, ended up in prison for years.
There, paradoxically, he seemed to gain a kind of peace, a respite from the world, asserting himself, taking up reading, attending the mosque, without distorting himself (the image of Tyson as "king of prison" is brought back to us several times).
Coming out of prison a few years later would seem to Mike almost like a drama, he who saw the world out there as his real hell, made up of expectations, millionaire encounters, paybacks, and pressure.
Defeats and big money came, and then came Holyfield.
It was there that Tyson began to hit rock bottom, at least in people's eyes.
It was there that he started the decline that would lead him to retire a few years later.
A story, as we said, of tragedy but also of redemption.
The redemption of the dumb and fat Mike, the rebirth after prison, the rising up every time life presented him the bill, the not giving up but also the rape, the jail, the violence, the waste, the excesses.
Today Tyson, as the narrative voice suggests without ever revealing it, seems to be a different person, at peace with himself, tempered by the years and events.
As the swirling ending tells us, Mike Tyson is a complex, multifaceted person, made of contrasts, instincts, natural outbursts.
Mike Tyson is many things.
Mike Tyson is not just one thing.
As Trevonte Rhodes will say, as the images that had dominated the previous 7 episodes alternate, Mike Tyson (i.e., himself) IT'S NOT JUST ONE THING.
