I wake up. I see the light shimmering through my frosted window. I roll out of bed, scrambling to gather my camera and tripod. Still in my pajamas, I sprint to the end of my driveway, cross the street, and find myself at the lookout on East Hill. It's -15 ℃. My tennis shoes are filled with snow, but I don't care. My focus is pinned on the sheer beauty of the surrounding landscape of my hometown. After setting up my equipment, I breathe a comforting warmth into my bare hands. I don't take the shot just yet. I'm still soaking it all in. The fresh Alaskan air. The sun shooting gold dust onto the land beneath me. I've been so blessed. It's not every day you get to experience such magnificence. I feel crystals building up on my unkempt facial hair.
Okay - times up, I think to myself.
