Jun Murakami put out a free Kontakt library sampled straight from actual Famicom hardware. It is called Famitone 2A03, version 1.0, and you grab it as Famitone2A03_v1.0.zip from his GitHub repo.
The thing that got me is how unnecessarily thorough the sampling is. Everything is recorded at 96kHz 24bit across all 88 keys, and for the square wave channels he sampled every duty ratio combination over 3 frames of the chips 60fps processing, plus 6 frames worth of noise channel variations. The developer himself admits the file size is huge because of it. Fair enough, honestly.
The interface is just a handful of knobs. Three duty ratio knobs up top to morph the pulse sound, with attack, hold, and decay underneath. Twist them and it does that wobbly 8-bit thing trackers usually make you program by hand.
He also bundled every instrument he used on the Yuru Camp 8-bit CD, and he openly says modern chiptune plugins are more practical than this library. Free is free though, and for quick dirty noise textures it is genuinely convenient.
