Todo comenz贸 por el a帽o 1997 seg煤n indican los peri贸dicos de la 茅poca, para mi empez贸 mas tarde, el primer tomo que lleg贸 a mis manos fue el n煤mero 16, lo recuerdo como si hubiese sido ayer, fue en el a帽o 2000... la editorial Ivrea estaba por vivir su evento can贸nico, yo tambi茅n, ninguno de nosotros lo sab铆amos, todo parec铆a ir sobre ruedas. Ellos decididos a apostar por el manga en Latinoamerica trajeron por primera vez los derechos para producir, traducir y comercializar la serializaci贸n de Ranma 1/2 y con 茅sta como primer batacazo, un sinf铆n de historias.
Everything started in 1997, according to the newspapers of the time, but for me, it began later. The first issue that landed in my hands was number 16, I remember it like it was yesterday, it was in the year 2000... Ivrea publishing was about to experience its defining moment, and so was I, neither of us knew it at the time, everything seemed to be going smoothly. They were determined to bet on manga in Latin America, and they brought in the rights to produce, translate, and commercialize the serialization of Ranma 1/2, and with it, a plethora of stories.
La edici贸n sufri贸 varios cambios a trav茅s de los a帽os, fueron estos formatos, el primero que val铆a $5 es el del dise帽o con marco, al llegar al n煤mero 13 se modific贸 debido a la crisis econ贸mica que ya se estaba haciendo sentir en la Rep煤blica, cambiaron el dise帽o de tapa a la vez que se redujo el tama帽o de la revista unos modestos 5mm para abaratar costos por lo que ahora costaba $3.50, la calidad del papel era el mismo, tengo este numerito 21 desde hace mas de 20 a帽os y las hojas ni siquiera cambiaron el color.
The edition underwent several changes over the years, these were the formats: the first one, which cost $5, had a framed design. When volume #13 arrived, changes were made due to the economic crisis that was already being felt in the country. They changed the cover design and reduced the magazine's size by a modest 5mm to cut costs, so it now cost $3.50. The paper quality remained the same. I've had volume #21 for over 20 years, and the pages haven't even yellowed.

Some readers complained that their collections looked uneven on the shelf, but to keep the serialization going, it was a sacrifice worth making. Imagine the fuss caused by the last version: it went back to the original price of $5, was even smaller, but was a "double" volume for us, with the original Japanese tankobon size. I've got mine, and it's battered because it's a survivor.

Ivrea volvi贸 al pa铆s en alg煤n momento de todo este periplo, y con esta versi贸n kanzen de 20 tomos se desquit贸 de toda esta desgracia colectiva y creo que yo tambi茅n merezco darme esta segunda oportunidad con esta nueva versi贸n, quer铆a recuperar la que ten铆a, comprar los tomos viejos pero la verdad creo que lo mejor ser铆a apostar a esta nueva versi贸n con sentido de lectura original a diferencia de las anteriores.
Ivrea returned to the country at some point during all this, and with this 20-volume kanzen edition, they made up for all the collective misfortune. I think I deserve a second chance with this new version too. I wanted to recover the old ones, buy the old volumes, but honestly, I think it's better to go with this new version, which has the original reading direction, unlike the previous ones.
Es un bell铆simo ejemplar a fin de cuentas, todos los cambios sufridos retratan una 茅poca, una historia que se transform贸 y reinvent贸 acomod谩ndose como pudo para sobrellevar el mundo sobre sus lomos. Asi nos entrelaza el destino.
