Collection Highlights -

I am back with another vintage silver round. This one is a bit underwhelming as I could find absolutely nothing about this round. Part of my struggle is there's nothing around to help me identify the mint the year or anything else to help narrow it down. Most of my search results only resulted in this silver round being offered for sale on eBay or other sites

Even the new Numista Paige had shockingly little information and basically just describe the visuals on the round and left it at that.

This to me is a dead copy of the panda that is on the Chinese silver Panda coins. One of the big differences is that this one is 31.1 g as opposed to the Chinese rounds that are all 30 g of silver. Clearly while this is close to it is not the same as the reverse of this coin is a international trade unit.

While I like the panda and I guess it's cute, it just feels a little odd to me that there's nothing else on this side. I would love to see a mint identifier or a year or something else. Part of me wonders if there was a collection of animals done or if it was just the panda international trade unit.

Like so many other coins of its time this international trade unit featured a scale Wayne out what appears to be coins or precious metal. I guess the design of the scale is fine there's not much to be said the rest of it is taken up by the words the international silver trade unit and it's stamp of one troy ounce .999 fine and 31.1 g. Overall this vintage round is okay certainly not one of my favorites, although I think if I could identify the mint and bracket in some years I might actually like it more, I think part of my dislike is the fact that I know nothing else about it and I don't know if there's more in a series that I should be looking for.
