Psalm 18:21 "For I have kept the ways of the Lord, and have not wickedly departed from my God."
A "righteous" person (tsadiya - Strong's #6662) is one who is straight and does not depart from the way of God; right-ness; equal balancing.
One must understand the concepts from the Ancient Hebraic culture and thought. The Ancient Hebrews were nomadic people who traveled a circuit through the wilderness, following the same paths from pasture to pasture, campsite to campsite and watering hole to watering hole. Anyone leaving this path can become lost and wander aimlessly, one who has "departed" from the path. A "righteous" person is not one who lives a religiously pious life... the common interpretation of this word BUT he is one who follows the correct path, the path (way) of God.
Psalms 119:1-8:
"Blessed are those whose WAY (tread with the feet; act of walking; going, journeying) is blameless, who walk in the LAW (Torah; point out; to show; instruct, teach; God's instructions to His people of His will) of the Lord!
Blessed are those who keep His TESTIMONIES (to turn back again; to go over again; to reiterate; to testify), who seek Him with their whole heart, who also do no wrong, but walk in His Ways!
You have commanded your PRECEPTS (take oversight or change; mandates enjoined to others) to be kept diligently. Oh that my ways may be steadfast in keeping your STATUTES (to cut in; engrave; inscribe, to decree or ordain; ordinance)!
Then I shall not be put to shame, having my eyes fixed on all your COMMANDMENTS (to set up, constitute; constitutional commands). I will praise you with an upright heart, when I learn of your RIGHTEOUS (rightness; equal balancing) rules. I will keep your statutes; do not utterly forsake me!"
It is a daily reminder for me to ask Yahweh to SHOW me His ways, TEACH me His paths, LEAD me in His TRUTH... that I will continually remain on the path that is righteous and good. More and more of Him and less and less of me! Rest well this weekend ya'll. Shalom ❤️
