We have a little Ameracuana lady in the house. Her name isn't very creative. Ameracaunas have poofy feather cheeks, and Santa beards. Their little cheeks are adorable.
She's in the house because she was injured, and then there were complications, and they're still life-threatening. It was going to be temporary, when winter first came on, so she could be comfortable and recover, but she is the most ingratiating little roommate ever (I'll be no trouble. Really.)
We got used to her, and then really liked her, and it's nice to have a house pet. I'd love to have a cat, but I can't do that (tiny house) to a cat, and I can't do that (cat) to the wild birds. So I get a pet chicken with cheeks.
She's like a parrot, but much quieter. I throw a blanket over her box at night; she watches everything we do.
