The place where the world stopped was not so strange, but the vertigo was overwhelming. The girl could not decide whether or not it would be wise to jump.
"Could you please stop calling me 'the girl' you fluffing astronaut? Use my real name." She asked and jumped out of the aircraft, landing awkwardly on the new planet bringing up a cloud of dust.
"Well I'm making a video of our attempt to save the world, so that in the possibility that we fail, the younger generation would know what happened." I replied calmly, landing on the planet with a light step and another cloud.
"Well, use my real name; Anya." She brushed herself off and started stomping away.
I walked after her, floating with each step, loving the lack of gravity.
"What are we even looking for?" Anya looked back asking me.
"Anything out of the ordinary, a machine or anything that can help explain why the Earth suddenly stepped out of its orbit and stopped in space." I replied walking towards her.
"Do you mean anything or anyone?"
I walked past her and her question.
"I heard your little outburst in the training building against that annoying kid Michael." She turned around.
"You know something about this place."
"John!!!!" She shouted my name
"What are you truly looking for here?"
"What are you asking me, Anya?" I asked back.
She explained as she walked towards me.
"As the earth fell out of the sun's orbit, we became frozen in place, the sun's orbit also got slower, what was 365 days is now 3,650 days or 10 years."
She was in my front now.
"Every 10 years we suffered darkness and cold worse than Alaska in winter with the sun, until it passed by us again, with its warmth and light."
"Every 10 years we send astronauts to the closest heavenly body to the Earth, so they can join the orbit and at least see what happened and report back in another 10 years."
Tears were quickly filling my eyes as I remembered these hard times, the creatures getting stronger in the dark, everything more hideous and evil.
"Every 10 years we lose 2 astronauts and more hope for ever understanding our fate."
"And in the last 10 years I lost my father!!" I screamed at her.
"The last 10 years I lost my father." I said again breaking down into sobs.
I remembered the sending off, although there was no electricity, the fire of the rocket being the brightest thing in the world was seen all over, the side of the planet.
People were allowed to get closer to the launch as heat that would have been dangerous before the freeze, was now healthy and advised to help treat some serious cases.
"He had a clue." I told her
"I was 12 then when he figured it out. He told me and gave me a device to help keep in touch with him."
"I followed him to the launch and supercharged it with the heat from the rocket's fire."
"It worked well and I was able to keep communication with him for 12 days after he landed."
"Show me this device." She asked hastily, eyes wide on this revelation.
