This contest has to be the hardest contest I've come across this month.
My Best Anime Character.
The kind of contest that gets harder with the amount of anime's one have watched. For me, that meant it was unfathomably hard choosing just one.
Plus the fact that I didn't want to choose just any good character which someone else would end up choosing later.
Imagine sharing my favorite character?
That would be mortifying 馃槶.
I recently just finished the first Anime under the Fate Anime Collection 馃槀
The character that had the most emotional effect on me, the main character Emiya is one who I'm never at a loss of words for.
I utterly hated and disliked him馃槀.
If this contest was to be about my worst anime character, well it would've been a no brainer.
Instead I had to think a little for this contest and I found a winner 馃弳
Osumo Dazai
This private investigator from Bunguo Stray Dogs is a fan's favorite from a rather criminally underated anime.
He was legit the face of the anime, part of the "I stole the show from the MC gang."
He was the driving force for plenty people who would want to see the anime and it's clear that it was done intentionally by the writer.
Why I Chose Him
There are plenty categories in which I could've used to single him out from all the characters in all the anime's I've watched, yet the reason why I chose him are quite few.
- His Intelligence
Now he was smart!
In a detective genre anime, it's clear that we would come across some smart characters, yet Dazai was a head above there rest, with his only rival being the antagonist Fyodor.
His intelligence was the kind of overwhelming force which would intimidate his enemies, his allies and even you the viewer, the type of cold calculative minds that when you see their plans begin to work out, you can't help but feel a shiver馃ザ
His intelligence helped him in his plans which was what he used in defeating characters with extremely stronger power's than him
- His Mysterious Past
Everybody loves a character that has a douse of mystery.
Dazai is one whose mysteries have really been a source of online debates.
His past gives him a contact or a way in every aspect of life and it's just refreshing to watch.
The villian turned hero is a clich茅 trope which he just makes work.
- A Great Teacher
Dazai was a wonderful teacher to his two students.
Understanding their gifts and shortcomings and knowing how to inspire them to work together for a common goal.
It's an amazing feat considering how much they hated each other. He even played a part in turning their abject hatred to a mostly healthy rivalry.
- Real Life Connections.
This character, like plenty of the characters in the manga was based off a real life person, Dazai was no exception.
He was based off a Novelist with the same name.
Dazai Osumo the novelist died by suicide after making his book "No Longer Human." These facts were used to build this beloved anime character as the books name was used to create his character and his suicidal behavior was gotten from the real life's Dazai's way of death.
This show is a great show and Dazai is a great character, yet the show is still fairly unpopular.
So I decided to choose this character as something of an advertisement to the anime Bunguo Stray Dogs.
Dazai, with his bizarre, comedic, badass and emotional scenes is a lovely character who is a always a joy to be seen on screen.
