Max is a persistent type and doesn't give up easily, so he will keep bashing the door until something gives. He may need to go find a place to sleep and come back, but he will persist for as long as it takes or he dies trying. He smashes his axe into the door once more but it simply bounces off. He tries again but it bounces off again. Max stops to wipe the sweat from his brow using his sleeve to soak up the water.
